Bhadrachalam MLA Highlights Anganwadi Education Programme as a National Model
Bhadrachalam MLA Dr. Tellam Venkata Rao has praised the pre-primary education programme implemented in Anganwadi centers, calling it a model for the entire nation. He stated that this initiative, known as the Play School programme, reflects the government’s commitment to developing remote and underserved areas.
As part of these efforts, MLA Rao, along with District Collector Diwakar TS, laid foundation stones for various infrastructure projects in the Wajedu and Venkatapuram mandals of the Bhadrachalam constituency. These projects include the construction of roads, gram panchayat buildings, and Anganwadi center buildings, aimed at improving the living standards in these communities.
During the event, the MLA and District Collector distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak checks to newly married women in these mandals. Additionally, MLA Rao participated in traditional ceremonies such as Seemantham (a baby shower ritual) and Aksharabhyasam (a traditional initiation into education) held at Anganwadi centers, highlighting the cultural significance of these events.
MLA Rao also shared updates on the government’s development efforts. He announced that Rs. 15 crore had been allocated for the Nagaram to Prayapatal road project and Rs. 7 crore for the Incharlapally to Mutharam road project within the last ten months. He assured residents of continued development in the area and revealed plans to expand road construction projects under the Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women & Child Welfare Departments.
The MLA commended the government’s initiatives in addressing the needs of economically disadvantaged families. He highlighted how literacy and baby shower ceremonies are being celebrated in a grand manner through Anganwadi centers, contrasting these efforts with the preference of affluent families for private institutions like Basara.
