In Hyderabad, BRS MLA T Prakash Goud met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and is expected to join the ruling party soon. This comes shortly after BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao claimed that 20 Congress MLAs were in touch with him.
The meeting between Prakash Goud and Revanth Reddy took place at the Chief Minister’s residence in the presence of Government advisor Vem Narender Reddy. Prakash Goud, a four-time MLA, conveyed his intention to join the Congress party to the Chief Minister.
Prakash Goud will be the fourth MLA to join the Congress recently, following MLAs Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, and Tellam Venkat Rao. With these new additions, the BRS’s strength in the Assembly has decreased from 39 to 35 members. Former minister P Mahender Reddy is reportedly encouraging party leaders with Telugu Desam background to join ‘Team Revanth’.
The joining of Prakash Goud will benefit the Congress candidate in the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, G Ranjith Reddy. The Congress currently holds three out of the seven segments in Chevella, while BRS represents five segments. Prakash Goud’s move is expected to give an advantage to the Congress candidate in the upcoming elections.
