Hyderabad: BRS MLA Mainampally Hanmantha Rao has claimed that Chief Minister KCR was the one who suggested bringing his son into politics, but now he has denied him a ticket. Speaking at a program in Malkajigiri on Saturday, Rao clarified that he is still a BRS MLA and has always followed the party’s guidelines.
Rao recalled that CM KCR had encouraged him to involve his son in politics after seeing him at the inauguration of Medchal Collectorate. Following the CM’s encouragement, his son started working on public welfare programs in Medak through Mynampalli Seva Sanstha. Rao stated that he will make a decision about his future plans after visiting the Vijayawada Kanakadurgamma temple.
Recently, Hanmantha Rao made headlines when he accused Finance Minister T Harish Rao of being involved in large-scale corruption and threatened to expose him. However, BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and MLC K Kavitha came out in support of Harish Rao and criticized the MLA’s comments. Hanmantha Rao criticized Harish Rao for obstructing the development of the old Medak district by encouraging group politics, and questioned his involvement in ticket allocation.
Hanmantha Rao’s son Rohit Rao was aspiring to contest from Medak, where the current member Padma Devendar Reddy is a strong supporter of Harish Rao. The BRS MLA warned that he will demonstrate his power and influence in Harish Rao’s Assembly segment of Siddipet. He also alleged that Harish Rao has accumulated Rs 1 lakh crore through corrupt practices.
In response to this, KTR condemned Hanmantha Rao’s behavior and expressed his support for Harish Rao. Kavitha also opposed the derogatory comments made by Hanmantha Rao and praised CM KCR for his brave leadership. She expressed confidence that people will have unwavering faith in the BRS government and seek the blessings of the people of Telangana.
The BRS MLA’s comments have sparked a controversy within the party, with leaders taking sides on the issue.
