Free Mega Health and Cancer Screening Camp Held in Old City
A free mega health and cancer screening camp was organized in Hussaini Alam, Old City, Hyderabad, on Monday. The event focused on raising awareness about women’s health and the importance of early cancer detection. Over 150 people attended the camp, which provided medical care, specialist screenings, and free medicines.
The camp was inaugurated by Charminar MLA Mir Zulfiqar Ali and renowned Sufi scholar Syed Aale Mohammed Shabbar Quadri. It received an enthusiastic response from the community, highlighting the pressing need for accessible healthcare in the area. Residents expressed their gratitude for the wide range of services and the dedication shown by the organizers.
The camp offered essential medical services, including free breast and oral cancer screenings, Pap smears, gynecological consultations, and free medicines. These services were provided with the support of MNJ Cancer Hospital. “The initiative aimed to address the critical need for early detection and proactive healthcare in underserved communities,” said Mohammed Asif Hussain Sohail of the Sakina Foundation.
The event was conducted by the Rotary Club of Hyderabad in collaboration with the Sakina Foundation, MNJ Cancer Hospital, Jaferia Hospital, and Our School. Several key individuals, including Rizwan Hyder, president of the Rotary Club, Iftekhar Husain, Rotarian Nabeel Husain, managing partner of Noori Travels, Mannan Hussain from Jaferia Hospitals, and Mirwat Hussain, Principal of Our School, attended the camp alongside teachers and other supporters.
“This is our 103rd health camp,” said Asif Sohail. “Beyond providing medical services, our main focus is on educating people about the importance of early detection. With over 103 camps held across the state, we remain committed to empowering communities, especially in areas like the Old City, where healthcare access is limited. We will continue this mission to ensure everyone receives the care and knowledge they deserve.”
Rizwan Hyder also emphasized the Rotary Club’s dedication to supporting marginalized communities. “The camp benefited over 100 people, showcasing our commitment to education, healthcare, and rehabilitation services,” he said. As the Rotary Club celebrates its 75th year, such initiatives continue to reflect its core values of community development and well-being.
This collaborative effort demonstrated the power of partnerships in addressing healthcare gaps and providing essential services to those in need.
