Miss World Pageant in Hyderabad to Boost Warangal Tourism

Hosting the Miss World Pageant in Hyderabad, Telangana, is expected to boost tourism in Warangal. Visitors from around the world may get a chance to explore the region’s historical and scenic attractions.

Reports suggest that the Ramappa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Laknavaram Lake may be chosen as venues for some of the pageant’s events. Contestants from 140 countries will participate in the event, which is scheduled to take place from May 7 to May 31.

The Ramappa Temple, built during the Kakatiya era, gained UNESCO recognition in 2021. However, despite its historical and architectural significance, the number of international tourists has been lower than expected. The temple is unique due to its floating bricks, sandbox technology, and black dolomite rocks, which are difficult to carve without advanced metallurgical skills.

Historian Aravind Arya Pakide mentioned that hosting Miss World events at Ramappa Temple and Laknavaram Lake would benefit the local Adivasi community. It could also promote their indigenous products, leading to economic growth in the area.

Laknavaram Lake, surrounded by hills, is already a popular tourist destination. Its two suspension bridges add to its scenic beauty. The first bridge, 186 meters long, was constructed in 2007, while the second bridge, 230 meters long, was opened in 2017. If any Miss World events take place here, the lake could gain even more recognition.

Other historical sites such as the Thousand Pillars Temple in Hanumakonda, Warangal Fort, and Kotagullu temples may also receive increased attention and tourism due to the international exposure from the pageant. Tourism officials believe this event could bring a significant boost to the local economy and cultural heritage.
