A heartwarming story from Turkey has emerged, as a baby who was rescued from the rubble after a massive earthquake has been reunited with her mother. Three-and-a-half-month-old Vetin Begdas was trapped in the rubble for 128 hours before being rescued. It had been reported that her mother, Yasemin Begdas, had died in the earthquake, but it was later discovered that she was alive. The pair were reunited after around two months, thanks to the efforts of Family and Social Services Minister Derya Yanik, who helped to prove their relationship through a DNA test. The minister tweeted a video of the reunion, showing the pair cuddling in the hospital bed where Yasemin Begdas is receiving treatment. The baby’s father and two brothers were killed in the earthquake, which claimed over 50,000 lives.
