Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarsimha addressed concerns about state students becoming local under GO 33. He clarified that the Congress government has maintained the previous government orders (GO 114) issued on July 5, 2017. These orders were released in accordance with the Presidential Orders.

Responding to a tweet by BRS working president KT Rama Rao, Rajanarsimha explained that according to GO 114, students who have studied from 9th to 12th grade are considered local candidates. Additionally, students who have studied from 6th to 12th grade in the former Andhra Pradesh are also considered local candidates for the area where they studied for at least four years.

Therefore, if a student studied four years in Telangana and the remaining three years in Andhra Pradesh, they are considered a native of Telangana. This provision has been in place for the past ten years as per the AP Reorganisation Act. However, the minister noted that this provision cannot continue after June 2, 2024.
