Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao has instructed the State Warehousing Corporation to install solar panels on the rooftops of their godowns. This step is part of efforts to make better use of resources and promote sustainability in the sector.

During a review meeting held at the Secretariat, the Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that farmers have easy access to fertilisers. He noted that the Corporation’s godowns are currently storing a large amount of fertilisers and stressed the need to avoid any disruptions in their availability for farmers.

To address the growing demand for storage, the Minister directed officials to construct additional godowns on the Corporation’s vacant lands. He also encouraged farmers to sell their red gram produce at the procurement centres set up by Markfed officials across the State. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for red gram has been set at ₹7,550, offering farmers a fair price for their produce.

Earlier this month, the Minister had asked officials to ensure a steady supply of fertilisers at Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies and Agriculture Rythu Seva Kendrams. He also urged them to use advanced technology in building new godowns to improve durability and protect stored grains for longer periods.
