Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister, D Sridhar Babu, has cleared up rumours about the ongoing survey by the State government. He assured the public that the survey would not lead to the cancellation of ration cards or health cards. Instead, the purpose of the survey is to help design new welfare schemes and create development plans based on the data collected.
On Wednesday, the Minister officially launched the comprehensive caste survey in Shankarpalli village, located in Rangareddy district. During the event, he asked the public to support the survey and help make it a success. He explained that the survey aims to improve political, educational, and job opportunities in Telangana. He also criticised those spreading false rumours about ration cards and informed that homes will receive survey stickers as part of the first phase of the survey, which will last for three days.
The household survey began across Telangana on Wednesday, with ministers and local representatives starting the process in different districts. Officials are visiting homes door-to-door to gather social and economic information. The survey includes 75 questions, covering details about assets, debts, income, family members, and whether anyone in the household has moved to another state or country.
Surveyors are collecting detailed information about the head of the family and other members, such as phone numbers, jobs, and occupations. In case a family member has relocated, the survey also asks for the reasons behind the move, like pursuing higher education, finding a job, starting a business, getting married, or other personal reasons.
