Hyderabad: State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu has called on the Central government to set up a regional Center of Excellence (CoE) in Telangana. This demand was made during a press conference at HITEC City on Thursday.
The Minister explained that this center would focus on leadership training, research, and skill development for trainers. He emphasized that establishing a CoE would provide significant benefits to the state, especially with the upcoming Skills University, and create more opportunities for the youth in Telangana.
Sridhar Babu also highlighted that Telangana has a large pool of skilled software professionals and a highly capable workforce. He noted that the state ranks among the top in the country in terms of talent availability. He urged the Central government to allocate a CoE for Telangana, similar to the one in Mumbai, and stressed that Hyderabad is one of the top three fastest-growing cities in India.
In addition, the Minister expressed concerns over the Central government’s apparent neglect of Hyderabad in the semiconductor industry, despite the city having a favorable environment for chip manufacturing.
Looking forward, Sridhar Babu announced that the state government will introduce its gaming policy in the first quarter of next year. This policy will include support for research and development in the gaming sector.
The Minister also proudly pointed out that popular animation series like Chhota Bheem and Krishna, which have a large viewer base in India, are produced in Hyderabad. He reassured that the new gaming regulations would ensure adherence to ethical standards in the industry.
Tamil Nadu’s IT Minister, Palanivel Thiagarajan, was also present at the media briefing.
