Akbaruddin Owaisi, the AIMIM floor leader, has expressed support for the State government’s resolution to reverse or hand over projects to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB). He hopes that the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal will resolve the issues quickly. During a discussion on the resolution, Akbar expressed concerns about the 26 ‘unapproved’ projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers. He urged the government to clarify the current status, budget, and allocations for completing these projects. Akbar also called for action to stop projects by Karnataka on Tungabhadra river and the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project on Krishna river.

In response, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the ‘unapproved’ projects, which are a matter of serious concern, should be discussed in detail. The government has already invested significant funds in many of these projects. Since taking office, they have sought clearance from the Jal Shakti Ministry and are actively working on resolving the issues.
