Major temples in Telangana will start offering prasadam made with millets to promote the health of devotees. Temples such as Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, Balkampet Yellamma Temple, Mahankali Temple at Secunderabad, and Basara Saraswati temple in Adilabad will begin serving the healthier prasadam. The Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy signed an order for the temples to start preparing the prasadam with millets.

Temple managements have been focusing on the health of devotees by reducing sugar content and increasing the use of jaggery. Now, millets will be given priority due to their health benefits such as being anti-acidic, gluten-free, and detoxifying. They are also effective in reducing blood pressure and gastrointestinal conditions like gastric ulcers.
