Hyderabad: On Friday, several metro rail passengers in Hyderabad submitted a written request to the Metro Rail officials. They asked for extra coaches to be added, especially on the LB Nagar-Miyapur and Nagole-Raidurg metro corridors.
Passengers complained that during peak hours, the compartments are often overcrowded. Last year, there were plans to lease additional coaches to manage the passenger rush, but this was not done for unknown reasons. To help with the issue, the train frequency was increased to less than 3 minutes during peak hours. However, this has not been enough, and overcrowding has become worse, especially on the LB Nagar-Miyapur and Nagole-Raidurg routes.
A daily metro traveller mentioned that the number of people using the metro is increasing rapidly every day, but no steps have been taken to add extra coaches. During the morning hours, there is hardly any space to stand in the metro. To fix this, there is an urgent need to increase the number of coaches. Currently, the metro operates with three coaches, but passengers are asking for six. The traveller said they met with senior Metro Rail officials and urged them to add more coaches. Increasing the number of coaches will help reduce congestion.
