Members of Cantonment Vikas Manch in Hyderabad have submitted a representation to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. They are discussing measures that need to be taken for the development of the Cantonment area once their demand for a merger with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is fulfilled.
The Cantonment area, which is currently governed by an autonomous body, has not seen any development even after 75 years of Independence. It is proposed that after the merger, the Cantonment area should be declared as a separate circle in GHMC. Additionally, a special package of Rs 25 thousand crores should be announced for the development of the area, with a time limit of 10 years for spending these funds.
The Cantonment Vikas Manch also suggests implementing a special law or amendment that considers Cantonment as a special category/zone. This would help safeguard the rights of poor people who have been living on the lands for decades by issuing PATTA’s and regularizing their status. Another important aspect is the Strategic Nala Development.
Overall, the Cantonment Vikas Manch is advocating for the development and betterment of the Cantonment area, and they have put forth these suggestions to the Chief Minister for consideration.
