Hyderabad: Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited (MEIL), a well-known infrastructure and engineering company based in Hyderabad, has agreed to help build the Telangana government’s ambitious Skills University.
On Saturday, MEIL announced that it would provide Rs 200 crore through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for the construction of the entire university campus. The company will take full responsibility for building all the necessary structures on the campus. MEIL has promised to equip the university with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
A team from MEIL, led by its Managing Director Krishna Reddy, met with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat on Saturday. Several other important officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers D Sridhar Babu, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, MEIL discussed partnering with the government for the university’s construction. The company stated that the Skills University will be built to world-class standards. To formalize this partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between MEIL and the state government. The signing was witnessed by state Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and University Vice Chancellor VLVSS Subbarao.
Earlier this year, in August, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy performed the ‘Bhumi Puja’ (groundbreaking ceremony) for the university on 57 acres of land near Meerkhanpet in the Kandukur mandal. The government aims to create a campus that will provide all necessary facilities for students.
The Chief Minister praised MEIL for stepping forward with CSR funds to construct the university. MEIL’s Managing Director, Krishna Reddy, also confirmed that the company will build hostel buildings in addition to academic buildings, workshops, and classrooms.
The architectural designs for the university were presented during the meeting. The Chief Minister asked officials to finalize the designs within a week and to ensure that construction begins by November 8. He also assured that the state government would provide full support throughout the project.
