The high-powered committee meeting on the management of the Nagarjunasagar dam, which was supposed to take place in New Delhi on Wednesday, has been postponed to December 8. This decision was made due to the severe cyclonic conditions in Andhra Pradesh. The meeting was supposed to be attended by the chief secretaries of both Telugu States, Director CRPF, chairpersons of CWC, and KRMB.
In the meantime, the engineer-in-chief of the irrigation and command area development department of Telangana, C Muralidhar, has written a letter to the chairperson of KRMB. In the letter, he requested the board to restore the position before November 28 and hand over the management of the dam to Telangana.
It should be noted that Andhra Pradesh police and irrigation officials have forcibly taken control of the right section of the dam. However, according to the AP Reorganisation Act, the responsibility for managing Nagarjunasagar lies with Telangana, while the management of Srisailam falls under AP.
