A two-day lawyers’ conference of the VHP legal wing in Hyderabad concluded on Sunday. The main focus of the conference was to speed up the legal process for freeing Hindu temples from government control. The meeting was held at the ashram of Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and was attended by former Supreme Court and High Court judges, 150 legal professionals, and VHP central president Alok Kumar Jain.
VHP State Legal Cell co-convenor Siva Prasad mentioned that discussions at the conference included the urgency of freeing endowment entities from government control. The conference also discussed the need to scrap the Wakf Board Act and oppose unilateral claims over properties under the Act. Other topics highlighted were demographic imbalances in the country, the implementation of a Common Civil Code, and the scrapping of Muslim religious reservations as they are deemed unconstitutional.
The VHP Telangana legal cell convener Jasmat, along with co-conveners Narasimha Rao, Radhika Sarma, and Syamsunder, emphasized the importance of ensuring reservations for BCs, SCs, and STs are not diverted or denied based on social and economic backwardness. The conference also decided to launch a nationwide agitation demanding state governments to enact stringent anti-religious conversion laws.
