Young Advocate Offers Free Legal Help to the Needy

In a world where legal help often comes at a high cost, young advocate Mohammed Abdul Yousuf is making a difference by providing free legal aid to those who cannot afford it. He believes that legal assistance should be a right, not a privilege.

With the motto, “If not us, who? If not now, when?”, Yousuf and a group of like-minded friends have been working tirelessly to help people facing legal challenges. So far, they have assisted over 100 individuals by filing petitions, complaints, and legal notices—all free of charge.

A Journey That Started During COVID-19

Yousuf’s journey began in 2021, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Seeing people struggle, he and his friends decided to use their time to help the community. This led to the creation of Helping Humans Hyderabad (HHH), an initiative that initially focused on providing medical aid to critically ill patients.

HHH played a crucial role in arranging oxygen cylinders, hospital beds, ventilators, and life-saving medicines for those in need. Their efforts provided relief to many families during the crisis.

    Shifting Focus to Legal Aid

As the pandemic slowed down, the need for medical help decreased. However, Yousuf noticed another issue—many poor and underprivileged people lacked access to legal aid. In 2023, HHH shifted its focus to providing free legal services. Using social media, they spread awareness and soon began getting requests from people across the country seeking legal help.

So far, HHH has helped around 40 individuals reclaim their legal rights. Through a partnership with CHR Legal Associates, they have taken on important cases, even filing petitions in the Supreme Court of India.

    Fighting for Justice

HHH has extended its support to women who have been separated from their spouses and struggle to appear in court due to logistical issues. The organization has also taken a strong stand against cybercrimes, helping victims recover lost money and seek justice.

Another major area of focus for HHH is consumer rights. They have filed around 80 complaints against companies and service providers guilty of negligence, poor service, and unfair trade practices across India.

    Expanding the Initiative

Yousuf has big plans for the future. He hopes to expand the initiative further and provide legal aid, especially to women, to help them become independent. HHH is currently searching for a location along the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad to set up a dedicated legal aid center.

Beyond legal support, Yousuf and his team actively work on social welfare projects. Every winter, HHH distributes blankets and warm clothes to the underprivileged. This summer, they launched the Water Bowl Challenge, encouraging people to place water bowls for birds to help them survive the extreme heat.

    Supporting Education

HHH has also worked to support education for underprivileged children. They have helped around 10 students secure admissions in government schools and the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institution Society (TMREIS).

    Recognized for His Efforts

Yousuf’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. His efforts during the pandemic earned him the COVID Warrior Recognition Award from the Telangana Government. Looking to the future, he hopes to make free legal aid more accessible to those in need.

By turning legal assistance into a tool for social change, Mohammed Abdul Yousuf is not just practicing law—he is redefining justice for the poor and marginalized, one case at a time.
