Residents Demand IT Park in Medchal
Residents from the northern part of Hyderabad have urged the State government to allocate one of the two proposed IT parks to Medchal and its surrounding areas. On Friday, they submitted a formal request to the Medchal District Collector, emphasizing the region’s potential for hosting a major IT hub.
In their request, the residents highlighted several factors that make Medchal a strong candidate for an IT park. They pointed out the availability of large tracts of land, excellent connectivity through the Outer Ring Road (ORR), MMTS trains, and the upcoming Medchal metro. Additionally, they noted that the region has a growing pool of skilled talent that could help sustain a thriving IT ecosystem.
Sampath Reddy, a member of the Medchal Metro Sadhana Samithi, explained the need for balanced development in the city. “While Hyderabad has prospered with multiple IT hubs like Kokapet and Gachibowli, the northern parts, including Medchal, remain overlooked,” he said. According to Reddy, establishing an IT park in Medchal would address this imbalance and promote inclusive growth in the region.
Reddy further emphasized Medchal’s strategic location and infrastructure. He described the area as a gateway to North Telangana, well-connected by major highways like NH-44, the ORR, railways, and the upcoming metro line. He also pointed out the availability of both government and private land, which could be utilized to develop world-class IT infrastructure.
In addition to boosting infrastructure, an IT park in Medchal could create thousands of direct and indirect jobs. It would also stimulate local businesses, drive real estate growth, and transform North Hyderabad into a key economic region for the State, Reddy added.
