Wrestlers in New Delhi are upset with the police and are threatening to return their medals and awards, including the Padma Shri, which is a high civilian honour. The wrestlers were protesting when a scuffle broke out with the police, and some wrestlers were pushed and verbally abused. Olympic medalists Bajrang, Sakshi Malik, and Vinesh Phogat are among those who are considering returning their awards. The wrestlers have been protesting since April 23, demanding the arrest of WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for alleged sexual harassment.

The Supreme Court has closed proceedings on a petition by women wrestlers accusing Singh of sexual harassment, noting that FIRs have been filed against him and adequate security has been provided to the complainants. The court refused to entertain a plea to monitor the ongoing probe against Singh but granted the wrestlers liberty to approach the Delhi High Court or jurisdictional magistrate for further relief. The wrestlers say they will continue their protest despite the court’s decision. They will consult with their seniors to decide on their future course of action.
