A peace rally was held in Khammam to condemn the violence in Manipur. Muslim leaders and organizations joined the rally to express their disapproval of the situation in the northeastern state. Former MP V Hanumanth Rao, a senior Congress leader, criticized the BJP-led NDA government for failing to protect women and children in Manipur. He blamed both the Manipur and Central governments for the escalating violence and questioned why Prime Minister Modi has remained silent on the matter. Md Javeed, the Congress city Convener, held the BJP government responsible for the conflict among tribal people in Manipur, attributing it to their caste and religion-based politics. The rally was also attended by district Congress minority cell president Mujahid Hussain, minority leaders BH Rabbani and VDI Jayaraj, as well as several Christian leaders.
