Gadwal: The Mandal-level CM Cup Sports came to an end with a grand closing ceremony held at 4 PM at the ZPHS Boys High School in Ija Mandal Headquarters. The event was attended by Congress Party State Official Representative Master Sheik Shaavali Achari, along with 19th Ward Councillor and 15th Ward Councillor Ranmma.
The sports competition, organized by the Mandal Education Officer (MEO), Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO), and Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO), took place over three days. Students from 12 villages participated in various events. From these, approximately 100 students were selected to represent the mandal at the district-level CM Cup Sports, which will begin on the 16th in Gadwal.
Officials highlighted the importance of such grassroots-level initiatives in identifying and nurturing sports talent from rural areas. They expressed their satisfaction with the government’s efforts to promote sports and provide students with opportunities to showcase their abilities.
Master Sheik Shaavali Achari, a former national and international athlete, addressed the gathering during the closing ceremony. He praised the government’s initiative to encourage sports and emphasized how such programs help talented individuals from remote areas compete on larger platforms, including international ones. He also reaffirmed Congress’ dedication to supporting activities that benefit students and the broader community.
Achari expressed his gratitude to the officials for organizing the event and assured them of his continued support for similar programs in the future. He emphasized the need to keep nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities to grow.
The event also saw the participation of Congress State Youth Congress General Secretary Feroz, Congress Party Vice-President Krishna Reddy, and students from schools across the mandal. Their presence added to the significance of the occasion, making it a memorable day for all involved.
