Man sentenced to life in prison for raping his minor daughter

Hyderabad: A man has been sentenced to life in prison by a local court for raping his minor daughter at their home in Santosh Nagar.

The court also ordered him to pay a fine of ₹10,000. Although the incident happened in December 2015, it was only reported to the police in 2021. At the time, the Chandrayangutta police handled the case, before police stations in the Old City area were reorganized.

The victim’s mother told the police that the man had sexually abused their elder daughter and had threatened her not to tell anyone. After receiving the complaint, the Santosh Nagar police registered a case and arrested the man.

In addition to the sentence, the court ordered the victim be given ₹5 lakh as compensation.
