A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison for harassing and threatening his former colleague. The convict, identified as Krishna, worked for a private company. He repeatedly harassed the woman, used caste-based insults, and threatened her.
Krishna was charged under various sections of the IPC, including stalking, criminal intimidation, and insulting a woman’s modesty. He was also booked under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The victim had filed a complaint against him in February.
The two had previously worked together, but the woman left her job after getting married. Despite this, Krishna continued to stalk her and pressured her to marry him. Even after being arrested and released from jail, he continued to harass her.
He called her repeatedly, used abusive language, and threatened her to leave her husband. In July 2023, he went further by circulating a letter with offensive remarks and a photocopy of her image in her village.
Following an investigation, the Maheshwaram police registered a case against Krishna. Public prosecutor Gongura Bhadradri presented the case in court, leading to his conviction.
