A man has been arrested for selling fake cotton seeds in Rangareddy. The police were tipped off about the activity and arrested Thotakura Ranga Rao while he was trying to sell the fake seeds. 1.5 tonnes of counterfeit cotton seeds were seized, worth approximately 40 lakhs. The accused had previously served time for selling fraudulent seeds in Adilabad.
Thotakura has been remanded to judicial custody for possession of 33 bags containing the counterfeit cotton seeds. The police have urged farmers to report any suspicious activities related to the sale and distribution of agricultural inputs. By working with law enforcement agencies, farmers can help put an end to such fraudulent practices, ensuring a more secure and successful agricultural sector.
