The Congress party is having an important meeting in Karnataka to choose their leader. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has sent former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and two other party leaders to observe the election. K.C. Venugopal, Congress General Secretary (Organisation), shared this information on Twitter. Kharge, who was in Karnataka for the Assembly polls, is returning to the national capital for the meeting. The Congress has a tough decision to make as two senior leaders, former CM Siddaramaiah and state unit chief D.K. Shivakumar, are interested in becoming the chief minister. The Congress won 135 seats in the southern state, which is 55 more than they won in the 2017 Assembly polls. The counting of votes took place on Saturday after the polling for the 224-member Assembly happened on May 10.
