Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has accused the Congress government of large-scale land grabbing under the guise of their “Fourth City” project.
The Minister made these allegations while attending the Bonalu festival in Gurramguda, Maheswaram constituency, on Sunday. During a joint media conference with Chevella MP Vishweshwar Reddy and party state vice-president Gangidi Manohar Reddy, he claimed that Congress leaders have pre-emptively acquired thousands of acres in Maheswaram. He said they are poised to gain wealth worth thousands of crores through real estate.
Bandi Sanjay alleged that a scam worth Rs 2 lakh crore occurred under the BRS regime’s “Dharani” project, calling it the biggest scam in the country. He warned that Congress leaders are following the same path to amass wealth.
He stated that the Congress’s “Fourth City” project is another scheme to acquire property through land acquisition, benefiting only the leaders and not the people. He also claimed that a local Congress leader in Maheswaram has been tasked with acquiring these lands.
According to Bandi Sanjay, the Congress government is renaming the Dharani project to “Bhumata” and preparing to exploit lands termed as “Bhumetha” (maimed lands). He questioned the reduction in assigned lands from 24 lakh to 5 lakh since Telangana’s formation in 2014 and accused BRS leaders of misusing various types of lands, including those meant for the poor.
He demanded to know why Congress, which accused KCR’s family of land grabbing before the elections, has not investigated the Dharani project. He questioned the findings of a five-member committee on Dharani and why those responsible have not been brought to justice.
Bandi Sanjay suggested that a secret report has influenced Congress leaders to plan land looting under the “Fourth City” project and the renaming of Dharani to Bhumatha (Mother Earth). He expressed concern that no land will be left untouched by the Congress leaders’ actions and demanded the government publish a white paper on the alienated lands involved in the Dharani project if they are sincere about addressing the issue.
