Nalgonda: The Telangana government is taking big steps to improve irrigation in the Nalgonda region. On Monday, Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that all key irrigation projects in the area will be finished soon to make local farmland more productive.
Alongside Minister for Roads, Buildings, and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, he laid foundation stones for several major projects. These include:
– Bakkathayakunta Lift Irrigation Project near Nalgonda with a budget of ₹20.22 crore
– Punugodu Lift Irrigation Scheme costing ₹6.08 crore
– Nursing Batla Lift Irrigation Project worth ₹19.95 crore
They also launched the construction of a new block at the District Collector’s Office, which will cost ₹36 crore.
Speaking at a public event, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy shared progress updates. He said the government had approved ₹1,800 crore for the Dindi Lift Irrigation Project and ₹442 crore for the High-Level Canal project.
He assured the public that efforts are being made to supply irrigation water to areas like Pillaipalli Canal, Shivannagudem, Narayanapur, and Choutuppal. He also promised to revive the Musi River and complete pending projects like Dhanpotula Gandi and IT Pamu Lift Scheme.
The minister confirmed that the Nellikal Lift Irrigation Project would be completed soon, with Stage 1 ready to deliver water. He also committed to finishing the Rachakaluva and Gandhamalla Projects. Additionally, water will be brought from the Devadula Project to Tungaturthi.
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy highlighted that ₹1,600 crore has been allocated for improving roads in the region. He said the new collectorate block will provide better facilities for government staff and improve public service.
Several public representatives attended the event, including MPs Raghuveer Reddy and Kiran Kumar Reddy, as well as MLAs Jayaveer Reddy, Battula Laxma Reddy, Balu Naik, and Vemula Veeresham.
The day also featured the distribution of cheques under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Cultural programs were held to raise awareness about various government welfare plans.
