The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, has won all seven of its traditional strongholds in Old Hyderabad. These seats have been consistently won by the party since 2009. The party won seats in Charminar, Malakpet, Chandrayangutta, Bahadurpura, Yakutpura, Karwan, and Nampally, which are part of the Secunderabad parliamentary constituency. The toughest wins for the party were in Yakutpura and Nampally, where they won by narrow margins of 810 and 1,248 votes respectively.

Among these seats, the party’s biggest victory margin was in Chandrayangutta, which has been represented by Asaduddin’s brother Akbaruddin Owaisi since 1999. Akbaruddin won the seat for the sixth consecutive time with a majority of over 81,000 votes. In Yakutpura, there was a close competition between MIM’s Jaffar Hussain Meraj and MBT’s Amjedullah Khan, with Jaffer Hussain winning by just 810 votes. MIM has been winning this seat since 1999.

In Nampally, MIM’s new face Mohammed Majid Hussain emerged as the winner after a tight race against Congress’s Feroz Khan. MIM has been consistently defeating Feroz Khan in the last three terms. MIM also won the Charminar seat with Mir Zulfiqar Ali as the winner. The party has been representing this seat for the last 57 years.

In Bahadurpura, corporator Mohammed Mubeen won with a margin of 67,025 votes. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala retained his seat in Malakpet for the fourth time with over 26,000 votes. The MIM has also been winning the Karwan seat since 1999, with Kausar Mohiuddin winning for the third consecutive term.
