Hyderabad: PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud has called for an apology from Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar. This demand comes after the latter made controversial remarks criticizing the welfare schemes introduced by the State government.

Speaking at a press conference held at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Mahesh Kumar Goud expressed disappointment over Bandi’s opposition to a welfare scheme simply because it was named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He argued that such behavior is unbecoming of a Union Minister and questioned the motive behind opposing initiatives meant to benefit the people.

The Congress leader accused Bandi Sanjay of stooping to a new low with his political rhetoric, alleging that the BJP leader was trying to gain acceptance through such tactics. He pointed out that Bandi Sanjay seemed unable to accept that the Congress government is rolling out multiple welfare schemes on Republic Day. “Doesn’t Bandi Sanjay want the people to benefit from these schemes? The public will not forgive him if he tries to disrupt housing and other programs eagerly awaited by lakhs of beneficiaries,” Goud stated.

Looking ahead to the upcoming local body elections, Goud predicted a direct contest between the BJP and Congress. He dismissed the ruling BRS party, claiming it has no future and will soon break into factions.

Challenging critics of the Congress government’s initiatives, Goud invited them for an open debate. “We are ready to compare one year of Congress governance with the ten years of BRS rule. What significant schemes did they implement in the last decade? Did they provide 2BHK homes or ration cards to the poor?” he questioned.

Addressing remarks by fellow Congress leader and PCC working president T Jagga Reddy on alleged vendetta politics, Goud clarified the party’s stance. He firmly stated that the Congress has never indulged in such practices. “Congress does not engage in vendetta politics. Everything we do is within the boundaries of the law,” he affirmed.
