Chief Minister Promises Major Development for Mahbubnagar
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has made a significant promise to the people of Mahbubnagar, a district considered backward in development. He announced that he would work to convince the cabinet and the finance minister to allocate Rs 1-lakh crore as special funds over the next five years for the district’s progress. Reddy expressed confidence that the finance minister, who has a personal connection to the region, would support this proposal.
The chief minister assured that the cabinet is likely to approve his request, which would pave the way for the district’s planned development. He criticized the previous government’s approach, stating, “During Congress rule, the district did not need sympathy from outsiders like KCR, who adopted and then neglected Palamur.” Reddy also highlighted the failures of the former finance minister Harish Rao, accusing him of mismanaging funds, including the Rs 11,000 crore raised by leasing the Outer Ring Road (ORR) for five years, which he claimed did not benefit farmers through loan waivers.
In contrast, Reddy praised the current finance minister, Bhatti Vikramarka, for his commitment to farmers. Despite inheriting significant debt, Vikramarka managed to allocate Rs 21,000 crore for loan waivers, far exceeding the Rs 2,500 crore spent by the previous BRS government. The chief minister emphasized that this demonstrates the current government’s dedication to farmers’ welfare, unlike its predecessor.
