Hyderabad – With the March 31 deadline approaching for the 25% discount on Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS) 2020 payments, lakhs of applicants are struggling due to technical glitches, pending approvals, and incorrect fee calculations. Despite the government’s push to generate revenue through LRS, unresolved issues are preventing many from completing their payments.

    Major Issues Faced by Applicants

    1. Payments Marked as “Fee Intimated Not Paid”

    • Some applicants who successfully completed payments are now seeing their status as “Fee Intimated Not Paid”, causing confusion and delays.

    2. 2.5 Lakh Applications Marked as Prohibited

    • A large number of applications, including those with genuine ownership, have been wrongly classified as prohibited.

    • Many of these involve ceiling lands, where plot owners hold Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) clearance, but Dharani still marks them as government land.

    3. Pending L1 Approvals Despite Document Uploads

    • Most applications are stuck at Level-1 officer approval, even after applicants uploaded the required shortfall documents.

    • No clear timeline has been provided for approvals.

    4. Incorrect Fee Calculations

    • Some applicants reported that their plot values are in lakhs, but the system is generating LRS fee intimations in crores.

    • No mechanism is available to rectify these errors quickly.

    Has the LRS Scheme Failed?

The LRS 2020 scheme was introduced to address the government’s financial shortfall, but with these ongoing issues, it appears to have failed in achieving its goal. Citizens who are willing to pay are unable to proceed due to system errors, procedural delays, and lack of grievance resolution.

Will the Government Extend the Deadline?

With just a few days left, many applicants are demanding an extension, questioning whether the government will take corrective action or let the deadline lapse without resolving these issues.

For now, the biggest question remains unanswered—will the government extend the deadline to ensure all genuine applications are processed?
