The recent transfers announced by the State government are causing concern among the residents of Bhadrachalam. Particularly, the administration at the Government Area Hospital, which serves as a major medical facility for tribals in the area, is worried about the impact of these transfers. The priests of Sri Sita Ramachandraswamy Devasthanam are also against the transfers, citing a lack of doctors at the hospital.
The Bhadrachalam Government Area Hospital is facing a shortage of staff, with half of the nursing posts vacant and more expected to go in the upcoming transfers. Doctors have stated that 40% of them are eligible for transfers, leading to a potential exodus of medical staff from the hospital. Currently, out of 207 total posts in various departments at the hospital, 90 are vacant.
Despite efforts by the Collector to fill vacant positions through contract methods, many posts at the hospital remain unfilled. The impending transfers are set to leave numerous key positions, including that of the hospital superintendent, vacant. The transfer list includes names of nursing staff and senior assistants, with details expected to be finalized in the coming days.
Residents in the area are calling on district authorities to prioritize filling all doctor and nurse positions at the hospital. In addition to the healthcare sector, there is also a unique situation at Bhadrachalam Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Devasthanam, where long-serving priests and staff are facing potential transfers despite their lineage ties to the temple’s history.
