Bandi Sanjay Criticizes Telangana's Caste Census
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has criticized the caste census conducted by the Telangana government. He claimed that the census is fake and that including Muslims in the Backward Classes (BC) list is unfair to the Hindu community. He argued that this move would harm BCs in Telangana.
Speaking at a Teachers MLC campaign event in Karimnagar on Saturday, Sanjay warned that if Muslims remain in the BC list, Hindus may struggle to win BC-reserved seats in future elections. He pointed to the previous Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections as evidence. He said that after the YS Rajasekhar Reddy government introduced 4% reservations for Muslims, they won seats that should have gone to BCs.
He further alleged that the Telangana government is reducing the BC population percentage in the caste census. At the same time, he claimed there is a conspiracy to weaken the Hindu community by including Muslims in the BC list. He questioned why BC organizations were not speaking up about this issue and criticized the silence of intellectuals and graduates. He urged people to support BJP candidates in the MLC elections to challenge the Congress party.
As part of the MLC election campaign, the BJP organized a rally called “Pattabhadrula Sankalpa Yatra” in Karimnagar. A large number of youth, employees, and BJP workers participated in the rally. Several BJP leaders, including MPs Raghunandan Rao and Godam Nagesh, MLAs Payala Shankar and Katepalli Venkaramanareddy, and BJP candidates Anji Reddy and Malka Komaraiah, joined the event. During the rally, Bandi Sanjay also unveiled the BJP manifesto for the MLC elections.
Sanjay accused the Congress government of conducting a fraudulent caste census. He pointed out discrepancies in the population data, questioning why official numbers do not match expert estimates. He claimed that the Congress is trying to suppress BCs and is plotting against them. He urged voters to elect BJP candidates Anji Reddy and Malka Komaraiah with a large majority.
He also alleged that the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have made a secret agreement for the MLC elections. He questioned why the BRS did not field candidates. He criticized Congress for not fulfilling promises made to teachers and unemployed graduates and urged people not to trust the party.
