    Hyderabad: The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Hyderabad Zonal Office held a walkathon on Sunday to mark Vigilance Awareness Week. Around 450 employees and agents from LIC offices in Hyderabad and Secunderabad took part in the event.

    The week-long activities began on October 28 with an Integrity Pledge. The week concluded with the walkathon. During the week, LIC also hosted online quizzes and essay-writing competitions to raise awareness among employees about the importance of vigilance.

    Puneet Kumar, the Zonal Manager, flagged off the walkathon. The participants walked through notable landmarks including the Telugu Talli flyover, Mint Compound, Saifabad Police Station, Prasad’s Imax, and Lumbini Park, before finishing at the LIC Zonal Office. After the walkathon, Kumar addressed the gathering, emphasizing the role of preventive vigilance in reducing corruption.

    Kumar also informed the participants about the release of LIC’s first Vigilance Manual. This manual was unveiled by LIC’s CEO and Managing Director, Siddharth Mohanty, at the Central Office in Mumbai. The Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 was initiated by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) with the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity.”

    R. Sateesh Babu, the Regional Manager, discussed the significance of observing Vigilance Awareness Week. K. Sunandan, the Zonal Vigilance Officer, mentioned that the CVC is conducting lectures in schools and colleges this year to teach young people about preventive vigilance. He added that these students could help influence society positively in the future.

    Senior officials, including M. Ravi Kumar, Uthup Joseph, G. Madhusudhan, and Pramoda Kumar Sahoo, were also present at the event.
