    Amgen Opens New Innovation Centre in Hyderabad

    America’s largest biotechnology company, Amgen, has opened a new technology and innovation site in Hyderabad. The launch took place on Monday, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu inaugurating the facility. The event was also attended by Amgen Chairman and CEO Robert A Broadway, US Consul General Jennifer Larsen, Amgen India Representative Som Chattopadhyay, and Amgen India Managing Director Naveen Gullapalli.

    The new centre has been set up to further develop Amgen’s medicines using advanced technology. It will focus on innovation with digital capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science. Amgen plans to invest $200 million (about Rs 1,600 crore) in this facility by 2025, with more investments expected in the future. The expansion is also expected to create more job opportunities in the bio-pharma sector.

    Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that Hyderabad has strengthened its position as a biotech hub with Amgen’s expansion. He recalled visiting the company’s Research and Development centre in San Francisco last year, where he learned about their drug research efforts. Impressed by their work, he invited Amgen to partner with the Telangana government and assured them of full support. He expressed happiness that Amgen has now set up an innovation centre in Hyderabad.

    The Chief Minister also highlighted Telangana’s leadership in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and biotech sectors. He mentioned that the state is working towards achieving a trillion-dollar GDP and aims to make Hyderabad one of the world’s top cities. He assured that the government would support industries willing to invest in research, skill development, and education partnerships in the state.

    IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu stated that the arrival of global companies like Amgen brings new opportunities to Telangana. He noted that combining biotech and technology has created a new platform for innovation. He expressed confidence that Hyderabad will soon become a major biotech hub.

    Amgen Chairman and CEO Robert A Broadway described the new innovation centre as a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to improve healthcare services through technology and a global network. He thanked the Telangana government for its support in expanding Amgen’s operations.
