BRS leaders protested at the GHMC office in Hyderabad on Wednesday, demanding that the government not collect fees for the LRS. The party called for protests at district headquarters and in the city against the proposed LRS by the Congress government.
During the protest near the office, BRS leaders, including MLAs, MLCs, and corporators, raised slogans against the government’s decision to collect fees. They pointed out that when a similar scheme was proposed by the previous BRS government, Congress leaders accused them of exploiting the people. The BRS leaders stated that the LRS would burden people with Rs 20,000 crore.
Musheerabad MLA Mutha Gopal mentioned that Ministers like Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sithakka, and Bhatti Vikramarka had promised free LRS while in opposition. They urged these leaders to fulfill their promises now. Protests were also held at different locations by party leaders like MLA KP Vivekanand and MLC Shambhipur Raju in Quthbullapur, and T Srinivas Yadav at Maitrivanam. They claimed that the government’s decision would affect 25 lakh families and vowed to continue protesting until the LRS is made free.
