The Telangana High Court’s division bench, led by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice N V Shravan Kumar, declined to intervene in a writ petition requesting the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagarkurnool, to remove Mamidala Yashaswini’s name from the electoral rolls. Yashaswini is contesting the Assembly elections from Achampet constituency on the Congress ticket. The court stated that it does not have the authority to interfere in the election process, which began on October 9. The Election Commission had already clarified on August 11, 2023, that no addition or deletion of voters is allowed after the notification process for elections has started.

The petition was filed by Kampally Deva from Rajeevnagar Colony, Dindi, Chinthapally, Vangoor mandal, Nagarkurnool district. Deva sought the court’s direction to delete Yashaswini’s name from the electoral rolls on the grounds that she is an NRI and therefore ineligible to contest.
