An explosion from a drone was seen in Kyiv, Ukraine during a Russian drone strike on May 4, 2023. The explosions lasted for about 15 to 20 minutes and happened after a series of overnight Russian attacks. The Ukrainian air force said it downed its own drone that lost control over Kyiv on Thursday. They said it was due to a “likely” technical malfunction.

During the explosions, journalists saw a drone that air defense was trying to shoot down, while the Kyiv city military administration said “air defense is at work.” A cloud of black smoke was seen in the air, and the air raid alert was over when the Kyiv city military administration announced it.
