A team of agricultural scientists from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Palem, visited the fields of farmers in Ieeja mandal today. They inspected groundnut, cotton, and redgram (pigeon pea) crops. The inspection was carried out with the presence of the Mandal Agriculture Officer (MAO) of Ieeja and Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs) Yuva Raj and Medikonda Srikanth.

During their visit, the scientists discovered various pests affecting the crops. In the pigeon pea fields, they found sucking pests. To control these pests, the scientists recommended spraying Imidacloprid (60 ml) or Diafenthiuron (250 g) mixed in 200 liters of water per acre.

In the groundnut fields, the team identified a tobacco caterpillar infestation. The scientists suggested using Emamectin Benzoate at the appropriate dosage to control this pest.
