Two more cheetah cubs have died at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, India, which is a setback for the country’s efforts to revive the cheetah population. This brings the total number of cheetah cubs that have died at the park to three, and three of the 20 adult cheetahs translocated from South Africa and Namibia have also died. A cub’s death had been reported on May 23, and the two other cubs died on the same day but were not reported until Thursday. The cause of death has not been disclosed. The Kuno National Park is part of an ambitious project to revive the species in India after becoming extinct 70 years ago. After the death of a cheetah cub on May 23, a monitoring team watched over female cheetah Jwala and her remaining three cubs. The team found that the condition of her remaining three cubs was not good and decided to rescue them for treatment.
