The BRS working president KT Rama Rao warned companies participating in an auction of mines in Telangana that the BRS would cancel the allocation of mines once they form the next government in four and a half years. He made this statement during a press conference with party leaders from Singareni coal belt constituencies. Rama Rao criticized the Centre’s decision to auction the mines and vowed to safeguard Singareni’s future by taking action against the Central government.

Rama Rao accused both the BJP and Congress of conspiring to privatize Singareni by choosing to auction coal mines in Telangana instead of allocating them directly to the state-owned company. The Centre is set to auction over 60 mines, including Singareni, starting from Friday. The BRS leader questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s silence on the matter and called for all MPs and Central ministers from Telangana to work towards canceling the auction.

Rama Rao highlighted the efforts of neighbouring state’s Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in halting the privatization of Vizag Steel Plant, contrasting it with the actions of national parties auctioning mines in Telangana. He also criticized the Centre for not allocating dedicated mines to Singareni, while other state undertakings received similar treatment.
