KTR Criticizes BJP Government Over Telangana's Budget Claims
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticized the BJP government, accusing it of spreading lies about Telangana’s financial condition. He expressed anger over Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s comments on the BRS government’s rule in Telangana, stating she had no moral right to speak on the matter.
In an open letter to the Union Minister, KTR reminded her that Telangana had a surplus budget even when it was merged with Andhra Pradesh. He pointed out that when Telangana became a separate state in 2014, it had a debt of about ₹70,000 crore. Despite this, after ten years of BRS rule, the state was handed over to the Congress government with a surplus budget. He argued that it was unfair to link actual debts with the surplus budget.
KTR explained that over the last ten years, the BRS government used borrowed money wisely, turning it into investments that transformed Telangana. He questioned the BJP-led NDA government’s use of ₹125 lakh crore in debt, claiming that Telangana, in contrast, built major projects that solved drinking and irrigation water problems. He added that these investments also helped improve agriculture, industry, and overall infrastructure, benefiting future generations.
Further criticizing the BJP, KTR accused the party of trying to divert attention from its failures by focusing on BRS’s debts. He described the BJP as a “black hole” due to its numerous flaws and urged the party to focus on nation-building instead of engaging in “cheap politics.” He warned that the BJP could not escape its responsibilities by shifting blame onto others.
