Hyderabad: The BRS working president, KT Rama Rao (KTR), addressed multiple questions on Thursday during a prolonged interrogation at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office. He clarified key points related to the ongoing investigation.

KTR stated that no financial irregularities, misappropriations, or corruption were involved in the process under scrutiny. He explained that all funds transferred from the government to the Formula-E organisers were accounted for, with detailed records in place. According to him, the funds were sent directly to the organisation, leaving no room for corruption.

As part of a broader strategy, the Telangana government launched the Telangana Mobility Valley initiative and organised the Formula-E race to promote electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing and attract investments in the sector. KTR highlighted that the race not only benefited Telangana but also bolstered India’s reputation on a global scale.

During the inquiry, KTR assured the ED of his full cooperation. He answered all the questions posed to him and expressed readiness to participate in any future investigations. On Thursday, he submitted two key documents to the ED and received a receipt for the same.

The first document was a report by Nielsen, which highlighted that the Formula-E event generated $82 million in economic benefits for Telangana’s economy. The second was the Telangana Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy-2020, introduced by the state in October 2020. KTR explained that the policy aimed to make Telangana a hub for mobility solutions using alternative fuel resources and outlined a long-term vision for the mobility sector.

During the interrogation, ED officials requested additional information, including details about KTR’s personal bank accounts and assets. KTR assured them that he would provide all the required information in due course.
