    The state government has spent Rs 1,21,294 crore under the Municipal Administration department in the last nine years, with most of the spending in the GHMC area. The annual report of the department was released by Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao. The state government’s share was 91.8%, while the Centre’s contribution was Rs 9,934 crore. The Minister clarified that this was the rightful share of the State and no additional funds were given by the Centre.

    The government is working on improving drinking water supply in the city. A well has been constructed at Sunkisala and 60% of the work has been completed. By next summer, these works will be finished, ensuring that the city will not face a shortage of drinking water until 2050.

    The issue of Metro Rail in the Old City has been delayed because L&T has declined to take up the project. The government will be discussing with the Concessionaire again to consider the old city route.

    Regarding the status of GO111, guidelines need to be formulated and a meeting will be held by the chief secretary to address this matter.
