Telangana IT and MA&UD minister KT Rama Rao commented on the wrestlers who are protesting and planning to throw their medals in the Ganges. He questioned why the Central Government was protecting a Member of Parliament who is accused of sexual harassment while also neglecting the struggles of the wrestlers. The minister shared his thoughts on Twitter, stating that it is a shame that champion wrestlers have to resort to throwing their medals in the Ganges river, while the accused BJP MP Singh is being shielded by PM Modi and HM Shah.

The wrestlers have been protesting against the alleged sexual harassment of female wrestlers by BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who served as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India. They have now decided to immerse their medals in the Ganga River, believing that they hold no meaning anymore. Police personnel are present at the scene, as wrestlers such as Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik sit together with their medals.

People have come out to support the wrestlers, raising slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” However, Khaap leaders stopped the wrestlers from throwing their medals in the Ganges and took them away. The wrestlers have now decided to continue their protest rather than immersing their medals.
