KTR Names Farmer’s Newborn Daughter ‘Bhumi Nayak’ in Support of Lagacharla Farmers

Hyderabad: In a strong show of support for the tribal farmers of Lagacharla, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) met Jyothi, the wife of a farmer who was illegally detained. During his visit on Monday, he named her newborn daughter ‘Bhumi Nayak’.

A few months ago, Jyothi became a symbol of resistance against the Congress government’s attempt to forcibly take land from farmers for pharmaceutical companies in Lagacharla, Kodangal constituency. KTR’s gesture of naming her daughter represents the farmers’ ongoing struggle to protect their land and rights.

The tribal farmers of Lagacharla strongly opposed the Congress government’s efforts to seize their lands. However, their protests were met with harsh actions. Many farmers were allegedly tortured in police custody. Reports also suggest that Congress leaders, along with the police, raided farmers’ homes, harassed their families, and misbehaved with them.

During this difficult period, Jyothi, who was pregnant at the time, bravely confronted the government, demanding justice for her husband. She became a key figure in the Lagacharla movement, inspiring others with her strength and determination. Recognizing her courage and the farmers’ struggle, BRS leaders, including KTR, have extended their support to Jyothi and the tribal community.
