KTR Criticizes Caste Census, Calls It Misleading

BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday criticized the caste census, saying it was full of mistakes and used to mislead Parliament and the people of Telangana.

Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, KTR pointed out several errors in the census data. He accused Gandhi and the Telangana Congress of trying to deceive the nation with incorrect information.

KTR referred to the Samagra Kutumba Survey (SKS) conducted in 2014 by the BRS government. According to that survey, the Backward Classes (BC) population in Telangana was 1.85 crore, making up about 51% of the total population. If the minority BC population was also included, the percentage rose to 61%.

Expressing surprise, KTR questioned how the government could present such incorrect data. He argued that the BC population should have increased over the past decade, not decreased.

He pointed out that according to the latest caste census, the BC population had dropped to 1.64 crore, reducing their percentage from 51% in 2014 to 46% now. He asked how such a significant decline was possible and criticized the government for presenting misleading statistics.
