Hyderabad: Minister Konda Surekha made shocking accusations against BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR), calling him a drug addict. She also blamed him for causing harm to many actresses during his time as a Minister in the BRS government.
Her comments came after offensive social media posts, allegedly shared by BRS party workers, targeted her. In response, Konda Surekha, during a media interaction at Gandhi Bhavan, accused KTR of being responsible for the divorce of actors Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, son of the famous actor Nagarjuna. She claimed that KTR tried to strike a deal with Nagarjuna’s family when the N-Convention Centre was facing demolition during the BRS rule. According to her, KTR asked Nagarjuna’s family to send Samantha to him, and even Nagarjuna allegedly pressured her. Samantha’s refusal, she said, led to the divorce. She further stated that this was an “open secret” in the film industry.
Konda Surekha also alleged that KTR had exploited other actresses. She mentioned that actresses like Rakulpreet Singh and two others were forced to get married quickly due to his harassment. She claimed that KTR not only harassed them but also tried to make them drug addicts. According to her, KTR tapped their phones and used threats to gain control over them.
In response to these allegations, Nagarjuna strongly condemned the statements and asked Konda Surekha to withdraw them. He urged her to respect the privacy of individuals and refrain from dragging the personal lives of actors into political battles. Nagarjuna stated that the accusations against his family were false and unnecessary.
Actor Prakash Raj was the first to react publicly, criticizing the “shameless politics” that targeted female cine actors. Another female Minister, Seethakka, supported her cabinet colleague Konda Surekha but clarified that the statements were not aimed at any of the actors specifically.
