    Gadwal: The birth anniversary of Konda Laxman Bapuji, a freedom fighter and a key figure in the Telangana statehood movement, was celebrated today at the District Police Office. On this occasion, District SP Mr. T. Srinivas Rao, IPS, paid floral tributes to a portrait of Konda Laxman Bapuji.

    During the event, the SP spoke about Konda Laxman Bapuji’s significant contributions. He highlighted Bapuji’s role in the Indian freedom struggle, the anti-Nizam movement, and his unwavering efforts over five decades to achieve a separate Telangana state. The SP described Bapuji as a person committed to national service.

    Konda Laxman Bapuji was born on September 27, 1915, in Vankidi village of Komaram Bheem district. He was elected as an MLA from Asifabad in 1952 and served in both the Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assemblies. Bapuji held important positions such as Deputy Speaker and Minister for Excise, Handlooms, and Small Scale Industries. His involvement in both the first and second phases of the Telangana movement made him a pivotal figure, and his life continues to inspire future generations.

    The event was attended by Armed Forces DSP Narender Rao, RIs Venkatesh and Harif, SI Rajitha, and office superintendents Nayeem and Nagender, along with other office staff.
